A Perfect Day in Philadelphia!

Last night, I went to the Old City area with some other GSE students for Philadelphia Restaurant Week! One of the girls had made reservations at a place called Bridget Foy's, and there was a pretty fabulous prix fixe menu available. I had a delicious scallops appetizer, crab cakes for my main course, and chocolate souffle for dessert! It was neat to walk through South Street and see how vibrant and eclectic a place it is! There are so many interesting stores and restaurants to investigate!

I've been thinking lately about my ideal "Day in Philadelphia" (obviously a crucial distraction from my studies) and I've come up with something pretty super amazing, soooo here it is...

Sarah's Perfect Day in Philadelphia!

We start at the Famous 4th Street Delicatessen, where we order huge omelettes for an energizing breakfast. After people eat at this place, they give every customer a FREE chocolate chip cookie, and it just so happens to be the best chocolate chip cookie available in Philadelphia!

After breakfast, we go to Old City and browse through the shops and see the historical buildings and homes and awe over how lovely they are! Especially the window boxes. I think window boxes can make or break a house--seriously. As we're walking, we find a Betsy Ross impersonator and listen to her tell us a story about America's history (because that's just awesome!).



Our next stop is at 8th and Market Streets, where we take a brief trip on the PATCO line into New Jersey! Why, you ask? Oh, just because New Jersey is AWESOME! (And my hometown is right off the transit line, so we can say hi to the padres!)

Once back in Philadelphia, we'll go to the Reading Terminal Market where we can gorge ourselves on Bassett's ice cream, original turkey (It's like Thanksgiving EVERY DAY!), and, should we have the stomachs for it, more cookies from the Famous 4th Street Deli (at their market location)!


To settle our stuffed tummies, we'll walk to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and check out the latest exhibits, and then head to the Kimmel Center for an evening orchestra concert.

And that's my perfect day in Philadelphia! If you need a tour, don't hesitate to call! :-)
